COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sumner County now has 43 blessing boxes for food donations—including four in Hendersonville—and local residents can drop off extra supplies ahead of Thanksgiving. Trisha Russo, who has led the effort for four years, said food banks and volunteers will work together to keep the boxes stocked.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Legacy Village in Hendersonville welcomed Brittany Locke as its new executive director, who brings over 15 years of experience in senior living and holds degrees in healthcare administration and social work from Middle Tennessee State University+ she plans to lead with compassion to ensure residents receive respectful care.  Hendersonville Standard
  • A colorful cast of characters gathered at Bagsby Ranch on November 13 to support Grace Place Ministry—a local agency that aids single mothers and children in need. The fundraiser offered activities to raise funds for the nonprofit, which was founded in 2015.  Hendersonville Standard

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Volunteer Bank and F&M Bank announced on Nov. 10th that they will consolidate under the Lawrence Bank charter—retaining their distinct brands while serving local customers. Regulatory approval is pending and the change is expected to be finalized in the first quarter.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Bradford-Berry Preservation Society began assessing a 200-year-old Bradford-Berry House on Main Street, which has a damaged roof and boarded windows after recent storms. Ward 1 Alderman Mark Burgdorf said the home — built in the 1790s — will be preserved and may become an agriculture-technology center on the 14-acre site to build community in Hendersonville.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Hendersonville High School, freshman Delsy Hernandez saved her father's life by using CPR skills learned in class—her quick response kept him stable until help arrived—after which he recovered at home following several days in the hospital. Since spring, over 320 students have earned CPR certification at the school.  Sumner County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials held a ribbon-cutting on Nov. 13 at the new Hendersonville Women’s Center at 107 Glen Oak Boulevard, marking its move after 40 years in Gallatin. The center joined TriStar Hendersonville and now offers better services (including NICU access) and expanded care (for new mothers) to the community.  Hendersonville Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Safe Place for Animals offers a bonded pair of dogs, Pooh Bear and Piglet, and a three-year-old domestic short hair, Boogie, who are house trained, neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations — the pair costs $300 and Boogie costs $125 when adopted.  Hendersonville Standard
