COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Last weekend, Hendersonville held its annual Pig Fest at Veterans Park with the largest crowd ever and three days of family fun including live music, wrestling matches and a barbecue contest with 51 teams. The event raised over $58,000 for local nonprofits—Mary’s Magical Place, Live Love Nashville, Christmas 4 Kids and Grace Place Ministry—showing strong community support.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Rosemary Vickery, a longtime Hendersonville volunteer, began by helping at local schools and later joined CASA of Sumner County + Safe Baby Court to support children and their families while staying active through workouts and family time.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On Oct.30, Hendersonville held Halloween events at First United Methodist’s pumpkin patch on Main St from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and at Legacy Village with No Tricks Just Treats from 6 to 8 p.m. Today, First United Methodist hosts a shorter pumpkin patch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the Hendersonville Cruise-In Trunk-Or-Treat begins at 5 p.m. at Long Hollow Baptist Church—Indian Lake Peninsula Church also holds a trunk-or-treat at 5:30 p.m. with candy drop-offs.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Hendersonville Morning Rotary Club has announced its inaugural FallFest at the Barn, scheduled tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2310 Nashville Pike in Gallatin—this event will feature kid activities, races, pumpkin and face painting, a hayride, food trucks, a Beer Garden and live music to benefit local charities.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Ms. Cheap has started her annual Penny Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank, running through December to help feed families in need + support local efforts against hunger in Middle Tennessee. Last year, the drive raised over $66,000 to provide 264,058 meals, showing strong community support during hard times.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historian Allen Sircy is leading his third Haunted Hendersonville walking tour this Sunday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. along a route that passes local spots such as the old Methodist Church graveyard—tickets cost $20 and must be purchased online.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kara and Dave Brumley have opened a new Goddard School location at Indian Lake Village in Hendersonville—expanding inquiry-based early childhood education for local families. They already own two other Goddard School centers in the area.  Hendersonville Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Retirement does not mean slowing down as seniors at Park Place Senior Community explore painting, music, chair yoga and other classes—local programs help them stay active and celebrate small achievements for a fuller life.  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • High school football week 11 games were played on October 30 across ten counties—Cannon, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson—with scores updated Thursday evening. Games continue today with scores to be updated Friday evening and playoffs scheduled to begin next week.  Sumner County Source
