COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Hendersonville celebrated the dedication of the Oak Ridge Boys Bridge along East Main Street at Memorial Park, where community leaders, state legislators, and the Oak Ridge Boys gathered to honor the band's musical legacy. Officials said the bridge—approved by the state legislature—features a sign and plaque to commemorate the Oak Ridge Boys' impact on the local community.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hendersonville Library Friends will hold their annual fall book sale from Nov. 1—15 in Hendersonville, operating Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.—6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.—2 p.m. The sale will feature a record number of donated books, with hardbacks at $2, paperbacks at $1, and special tables for unique books and jigsaw puzzles to support library programs and summer reading events.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Hendersonville’s fifth annual Pig Fest began Thursday in Veterans Park with a wrestling match featuring local WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, and a kickoff concert by the Oak Ridge Boys is taking place today. The festival will run through Saturday with barbecue competitions, live pig races, a cornhole tournament, and vendor displays that help local charities.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Five local events are scheduled in Sumner County this weekend—Hendersonville hosts the Pig Fest at Veterans Park through October 25 and a free Trick or Treat at Rose Mont in Gallatin today from 5 to 7 p.m., while a Trunk or Treat at Bledsoe Creek State Park, an art and cocktail evening at Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center, and Oktoberfest at Our Lady of the Lake are set for October 25 and 26.  Sumner County Source
  • The Cumberland River Compact is recruiting volunteers for a lakeshore cleanup event at Memorial Park on Oct. 25. Volunteers from Hendersonville and Sumner County will remove trash from the shores of Old Hickory Lake and the Hendersonville Greenway to help improve water quality.  Hendersonville Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 14th annual Sumner County Artist and Artisans Studio Tour will take place on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Nov. 2 from noon to 5 p.m., with Studio One closing at 4, offering a free, self-guided tour of seven studios. Local artist Jerry Grubbs and Gallatin award-winning painter Toby Delk—who earned ribbons at the Nashville State Fair—will be among the featured participants.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The 2025 Gallatin Comic Con will be held at the Gallatin Civic Center on Nov. 8—9 and is sponsored by Towne Square Records & Comics, owned by Chris Dyer, with guest appearances by stars like Vicki Lawrence, Erik Estrada, and Larry Wilcox. The event will offer panels, cosplay contests, an artist alley, over 60 vendor booths, and free admission for law enforcement, with tickets priced at $20 for one day and $25 for both days and hours set from 10 a.m.—5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.—4 p.m. on Sunday.  Hendersonville Standard

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Every Kid Is A Hero Foundation will host the Sumner County Super Jam tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Palace Theater in Gallatin to raise funds for Comprehensive Development Classes in Sumner County Schools + the show will feature music by Troubadour Blue, Struggle Jennings, Zoee, Jamie Phillips and Paulina Jayne with tickets costing $25 + all proceeds supporting CDC programs.  Hendersonville Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Lacy (a 9-year-old domestic short hair available for a $125 fee) and Boone (an adult male hound mix available for a $250 fee) are ready for adoption at Safe Place for Animals; both are house trained and current on vaccinations.  Hendersonville Standard
