- ➤ TUCA and MTWDA will host a Career Fair for high school students on Sept. 18 and Dozer Day on Sept. 20 at the Old Barn location at 2310 Nashville Pike, where children will get a chance to ride heavy construction equipment. The organizers note+free shuttle and VIP parking are available+to help families attend both events. Hendersonville Standard
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, Sept. 7, a fire at Christian Manor Apartments on 100 Riviera Drive displaced one resident - no injuries were reported and the American Red Cross is assisting while an investigation continues. Hendersonville Standard
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Last weekend, the Middle Tennessee Highland Games celebrated its 10th anniversary after Richard Trest and his friends restarted the event in 2015—now held at Sanders Ferry Park with over 10,000 visitors. The event featured traditional Scottish sports, live Celtic music, and donated part of its ticket sales to the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ The Sumner County Museum will host the 29th annual Spirits of Sumner Candlelight Cemetery Tour in Gallatin on Oct. 4 from 5—10 p.m. Guests will walk along candlelit paths among tombstones dating back to 1814 and hear stories from the past. Hendersonville Standard
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sumner County Schools took possession of the 60,000 square foot Carolyn Smith Innovation Center on Aug 1 in Hendersonville to ready the building for January classes in dual enrollment and career technical education. The center will offer flexible rooms — including a makerspace, an IT server room, and a speech therapy area—to support students as they learn new skills. Hendersonville Standard
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Hendersonville Planning Commission recommended that the Board of Mayor and Alderman approve the annexation and development plan for a 32.8-acre property on Avant Lane during the September 2 meeting after a public hearing. The plan would allow Century Communities to build 61 single-family homes—complete with upgraded roads, sidewalks, and stormwater ponds—in a mixed-residential area, though some neighbors raised concerns about traffic and school capacity. - ➤ The Sumner County health department released its inspection scores for food service, pool, and child care facilities from August 27 to September 11 in Hendersonville and nearby areas – establishments must display their latest reports for public review and report safety concerns if observed. - ➤ Sumner County Health Department is observing September as National Preparedness Month with community partners to remind residents to plan for disasters. County Health Director Hal Hendricks said residents can protect lives by building emergency kits + setting up alert systems and making family plans. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Kaden Powell broke Beech’s all-time passing record on Thursday by throwing a touchdown to Jeramy Laster in the Buccaneers’ 22-19 win over East Nashville—recording 2,778 yards to surpass Nelson Smith’s mark. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Pope John Paul II’s running back Markus Cantrell earned the Week 3 Main Street Preps Football Player of the Week honor after rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-21 win over Columbia Academy on September 6—he received 39% of the fan vote to beat rivals from Wilson Central and Goodpasture.
