- ➤ Grace Place Ministry celebrated its 11th anniversary with a luncheon and fundraiser at Long Hollow Church on Thursday, Apr. 16—drawing over 1,000 local leaders—and honored its executive director Desneige Bourret who founded the nonprofit in 2015. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Sumner County offers a weekend of events from Square Fest in downtown Gallatin on Saturday—with 240 vendors and live music—to Demon Hunter Night at Play Gallatin on Friday, Hendersonville Memorial Park’s Plant Sale on Saturday, and a History Hunt running until June 30. - ➤ Last Tuesday, Hendersonville VFW Auxiliary Post #9851 hosted national president Lois Callahan, who toured the Veteran’s Food Pantry (operating for nearly 30 years) and Little Sprouts Garden before a flag presentation by the Station Camp High School Army JROTC and a community dinner. - ➤ The General Jethro Sumner Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution launches its series on Revolutionary War heroes with an article featuring General Daniel Smith at Historic Rock Castle overlooking the Cumberland River. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Friends of the Bridal House opened its 2026 season on Saturday, April 18 with an open house in Cottontown featuring contractor Kris Coker’s talk on replacing the historic chinking, funded by a $17,200 state grant (for improvements) that preserves the log cabin built in 1819. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Merrol Hyde quiz bowl team will compete at the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ Small School National Championship Tournament today—joining 153 other teams—to represent their school, and they are coached by Elizabeth Axley, Will Hester, and Andrea Morgan. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Hendersonville Rotary Club recently honored two students as Rotarian Oliver Barry presented the Youth Merit Award to Joseph Montalbano and Hudson Nitsch (from Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School) while their families celebrated the achievement. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ Emily Szpara, Hendersonville High School Golden Girl, signed with the Vanderbilt Dance Team on Friday, April 17. She trained 15 years at American Academy of Dance, spent four years with the Golden Girls, and will attend Belmont University in the fall (coached by Jamie Jordan). Hendersonville Standard
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Area 21 Special Olympics Spring Games will take place on Friday, May 1 at Station Camp High School. The event will feature 450 athletes and an opening Parade of Classes starting at 9:30 a.m.—with a torch run by local first responders celebrating Party in the USA and special education achievements. - ➤ Green Hill sophomore KT Tolbert rekindled her football passion by leading her girls flag football team to sweep Portland and Lebanon on Thursday, throwing for 1,323 yards as the Hawks clinched a third-place regional finish ahead of the postseason at Beech High School on May 8 (postseason tournament details forthcoming). - ➤ Station Camp’s baseball team won 1-0 over Liberty Creek in a district series game when Isaac Weeks hit a walk-off single after seven scoreless innings, handing Liberty Creek its first district loss this season. Hendersonville Standard
