COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hendersonville Library Friends plan a spring book sale from Apr. 11 to Apr. 25 at the local library—thousands of donated books in various genres will be available for community readers.  Hendersonville Standard
  • On March 15, the Knights of Columbus Council 9132 donated a $13,500 check to the Cumberland Crisis Pregnancy Center during a meeting at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville—marking the third year of the Baby Bottle program. The donation helps the center serve over 1,000 clients annually.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Legacy Village of Hendersonville and Pizza Ranch teamed up recently to support Alzheimer’s Tennessee during a fundraiser; Pizza Ranch donated 10 percent of its proceeds, resulting in a $405.05 contribution that highlights local community support.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Today in Hendersonville, The Collab hosts a Women’s Day Comedy Night at 7 p.m., and families can join an Easter EggStravaganza at Good Shepherd UMC and a Springtime in Paris Afternoon Tea at Lili Bella’s Bakery — featuring live harp music.  Sumner County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hendersonville teacher Grady Eades, a longtime educator and Scout leader, was named one of the inaugural recipients of the Hillcourt Bronze Medal by the Green Bar Bill Hillcourt Foundation for preserving the history of Scouting. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Drakes Creek Watershed Foundation, started last spring, is planning a cleanup event on Saturday to improve water quality in the creek that flows into Old Hickory Lake. Bryan Miller and community partners will raise $10,000 for debris removal and shoreline restoration.  Hendersonville Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TVA abandoned plans to build a high-voltage transmission line across the Gregory Family Farm (a historic property on Dobbins Pike in Gallatin) after a meeting on March 19 that included local officials and the Gregory family.  Hendersonville Standard
  • The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a hearing on April 6 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall for Nashville Pack and Equipment Co.’s request to use City Square for light manufacturing (the small, home-grown business seeks a space that better fits its needs) as explained by co-founder Grant Leonardi.  Hendersonville Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Two adoptable pets, Lilly Beth and Sally, are available at Safe Place for Animals. Lilly Beth is a 1.5-year-old Australian Cattle dog mix (27 pounds, spayed, vaccinated, $250 fee) while Sally is a 4-year-old Domestic short hair (9 pounds, house trained, spayed, vaccinated, $125 fee).  Hendersonville Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Green Hill’s softball team won 13-2 over Mt. Juliet on Thursday — extending their winning streak to 19 games — as senior pitcher P.K. Barnes led a late offensive surge at their home field.  Hendersonville Standard
