- ➤ The Sumner County Master Gardeners Association will hold its annual plant sale and spring festival on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Memorial Park, 151 E. Main Street, where visitors can buy vegetables, herbs, and native seedlings and enjoy wildlife sessions, local artisan crafts and food vendors — proceeds will support volunteer projects and scholarships at Volunteer State Community College. - ➤ Two adoptable pets are featured by Safe Place for Animals—Hope Ann is a 6-year-old Pit Bull Terrier weighing 60 pounds with an adoption fee of $250 while Micaela Marie is a 10-year-old tuxedo cat weighing 12 pounds with an adoption fee of $125. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Ascend Amphitheater will open its season with five concerts starting with Cake on April 19 at 8 pm, followed by Widespread Panic playing three nights from April 24 through April 26 and a Star Wars-themed show with the Nashville Symphony on May 4. Rufus du Sol is scheduled to perform on May 6 at 7:30 pm while Halsey will take the stage on May 21 at 7 pm, offering local fans a varied lineup for the season. Sumner County Source

- ➤ During its Tuesday, March 18 meeting, the Sumner County Board of Education adopted new science textbooks for the district. The new materials include Savvas for elementary schools, STEMscopes for middle schools, and seven texts for high school subjects, and they will be used in classrooms starting in August (summer professional learning is planned). - ➤ Members of the Hendersonville High School Band of Gold performed in a Disney parade at Magic Kingdom after securing an invitation through a nine‐month application process—band director Cris Seger said their rendition of 'A Friend Like Me' was well received as audiences sang and danced along. The group, which included 88 students and three staffers, traveled by charter bus and enjoyed extra time in the park after the parade. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Hendersonville firefighters are pushing to expand the Barry Brady Act to add breast, prostate and pancreatic cancers as job-related risks—Fire Chief Scotty Bush said the effort began after Capt. Don Dallenbach died from pancreatic cancer and key committees unanimously approved the amendment Tuesday before it was set for discussion Wednesday. Hendersonville Standard
- ➤ On March 17, the Sumner County Commission voted to reduce the library board from 11 to 9 members after the Legislative Committee passed the resolution on March 6. Commissioners noted that although two candidates, Mike Ray and Eric Stockton, received positive recommendations, neither was appointed for a three-year term. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ In February, 18-year-old Liberty Creek High School student Katelyn Williams saved Billy Austin at the Hendersonville YMCA when he collapsed after feeling unwell from pneumonia and strenuous exercise, performing CPR until EMS arrived. Austin, who now supports Williams by paying her tuition and said she became like family, credited her quick action with giving him a second chance at life. Hendersonville Standard

- ➤ Knox Doss eighth grader Connor Carlson earned a silver medal at the Eastern Indoor National Championships in Olympic recurve archery earlier in March, finishing second among roughly 5,000 competitors.
