COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rural Tennessee communities in Westmoreland continue to face fuel shortages after an ice storm disrupted supply chains, forcing residents to travel for propane and kerosene. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • George Edwards was named Hendersonville’s fire chief at the Jan. 13 Board meeting; he rose from volunteer to assistant chief and now plans to boost training opportunities by developing a local facility + his appointment reflects years of dedicated service.  Hendersonville Standard
  • Following freezing rain and ice on Jan. 28, NES teams have restored power to over 120,000 customers while about 106,000 remain out; more than 900 lineworkers (from multiple states) and 215 vegetation experts are working 14–16 hour rotations to repair broken poles in Hendersonville and neighboring areas.  Sumner County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • TriStar Hendersonville marked the opening of its new cardiovascular unit on Jan. 22 after a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 30,000 sqft, $53.6 million expansion added 24 specialized beds & new labs to ease ER and ICU congestion.  Hendersonville Standard

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Between Nov. 20 and Dec. 3, 2025, several Hendersonville properties changed hands as part of countywide transfers, with sales ranging from $130,000 on Mount Olivet Rd. to $2.25 million on Tyree Springs Rd. The transactions reflect a dynamic local market.  Hendersonville Standard

  • Sumner County's Cutter Sisk and Trey Pearson were named McDonald’s All-American nominees in November 2025 after strong seasons at Beech and JPII + their nomination places them among five Tennessee prospects from over 300 nationwide.  Hendersonville Standard
  • A local report ranks Sumner County's top girls basketball players and teams by scoring, rebounds, assists and steals ahead of postseason play.
