About this event

Join the Cumberland River Compact for a massive volunteer tree planting effort on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Calvary Cemetery in South Nashville! Together, volunteers will plant native trees to create a greener, healthier community and support water quality in nearby Browns Creek and the Cumberland River.

The trees we plant will absorb stormwater, provide shade, and keep pollution from reaching waterways in the Lower Browns Creek watershed (where Calvary Cemetery is located). They’ll also count toward the Root Nashville campaign’s goal of planting 500,000 trees in Davidson County by 2050.

This event will take place from 9 AM – 12:30 PM . Volunteers will work in teams to dig holes, plant native trees, and add mulch. Cumberland River Compact staff will provide a planting demonstration and explain how these trees will benefit Browns Creek and the surrounding community. Plus: Local history enthusiasts can embark on a self-guided tour of beautiful and historic Calvary Cemetery from the planting site.

Meet-up and Parking: This event will take place at Calvary Cemetery – 1001 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210. Parking info and exact meet-up location will be provided to registrants in a follow-up email before the event.
