About this event
Manic Focus is the electronic music project of producer John "JmaC" McCarten. Originally from
Saint Paul, Minnesota, and now based in Denver, Colorado, McCarten has spent more than a
decade creating music that combines funk, soul, hip hop, blues, and electronic bass music.
Since launching the project in 2010, Manic Focus has released a growing catalog of full length
albums, singles, remixes, and collaborations while performing at festivals including Bonnaroo,
Lollapalooza, Electric Forest, Suwannee Hulaween, North Coast Music Festival, Camp Bisco,
High Sierra Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, and Wakaan Festival. The project
has also appeared at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in support of artists including Pretty Lights,
Emancipator, and Zhu.
Known for continuously evolving his sound, McCarten combines original production, melodic
songwriting, and groove driven rhythms to create performances that connect electronic music
with funk, soul, and live musical influences.
