Ben Rice Trio + Casey Brefka Plays Jim Hall

About this event

The Ben Rice Trio has been active on the Nashville scene for nearly ten years. Drawing from such inspirations as Jim Hall, Bill Frisell, and Bill Evans they bring a deep knowledge of standard repertoire and exciting originals to the bandstand. Having studied with John Abercrombie, Vic Juris, and Corey Christiansen, Ben leads from the guitar while Patrick Atwater provides counterpoint on bass. The trio is rounded out by Anson Hohne’s unique voice at the drum chair.

For this show at Rudy’s the trio will be bringing to life the music of Jim Hall by performing several of his originals as well as his arrangements of standards. On the second set they will be joined by trumpeter and Music City Big Band director, Casey Brefka. In this set they will play tunes from the Art Farmer/Jim Hall quartet as well as play homage to Jim’s time in the bands of Sonny Rollins and Paul Desmond. You won’t want to miss this special performance.
