Ages 5+ · 2 hours · $25 per child, all materials included · Parents welcome to stay or drop off

Permission to Play is a studio built for kids to explore what they want to make.

Four rooms are open to them.

The Messy Paint Room — for painting big and messy.

The Cardboard Room — for building and creating in 3D.

The Crafting Room — filled with supplies and materials for crafts.

The Drawing Room — with references, books, and a light table.

Students move between rooms freely and work with the materials they want on their own projects.

Visits start at the stations, set up around the studio with different materials for hands-on exploration.

The stations support our Elements of Art curriculum — line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space. Every student has a folder that lives at Permission to Play. Each visit, they pick the element they're interested in and take the next lesson in it, building on the last one they did here. Every lesson includes key information, keywords, examples, and challenges to practice. It runs about 15–30 minutes, and it's there to give them something new to try, not to steer what they make.

The rest of the time — around an hour and a half — is theirs. Any room, any material, whatever they want to build.

Helpers are around the whole time for a hand, an idea, or a book to look something up in.

Come once a week or once a month. They keep their folder here, so they always know where they left off — a space to create with whatever they're curious about.

What we stock: canvases, watercolor paper, mixed media paper, sketchbooks, cardboard, and frames · paint, brushes, markers, colored pencils, and drawing supplies · glue, hot glue, and tape · glitter, pom poms, tissue paper, popsicle sticks, yarn, fabric, and paper crafts · a light table · and more.

Good to know: Wear clothes that can get messy. Drop-off requires a signed permission form — you'll get the link after booking.
